December 14, 2009 Concert on Saturday

So, there we go, time has come, our first ever self-organised concert. Long’un too, it’ll be a bit over 90 minutes.
I do not know how other performers are with ticket sales expectations, but I was really pleasantly shocked how fast we sold out the evening gig and had to put tickets up for sale for the afternoon one, that was originally planned to be press only.
It’ll be a milestone in many respects.
We never have played a concert an evening only on our own, either we’ve been supporting or we have been supported. This time our only support will be a 90-minute long mix of pop songs I put together last weekend. There will be songs by my eternal favourites as well as by the guest artists.
And then the concert. The program, the order of the songs is completely different from any other we’ve ever played, but right now, as an excel sheet it looks rather fine. We’ll play songs we never have before, such as the second part of You Are A Lover titled You Were A Lover, where the narrator’s friend is trying to come back. Will they manage?
We’ll also play Winchester Geese, a delicious song for harp and vocals, see my 25th September entry on the geese and their story.
And we’ll also play a song, which is VERY recent and is called ‘Hard’. Hard in what sense?
It’s a response to Poniklo’s song on me.
Hungarian audience have not yet heard our Song of the Sick, which we planned to play at Sziget, but then the overhearing of other tents prevented us. This is the time.
On the other hand, for probably the first time we’ll not play Messiah. I’ve always had issues with the lyrics of that song, so I won’t shed a tear. Neither will there be Pago-pago. Not even if you demand it screeching at the end. (Try us.)
And I have also put my Edwardian morning-jacket to the wardrobe, and selected (on a very painful and nerve wrecking trip to malls) bright colours. If you saw us at the Academy of Music, you got the idea.
So. Are you coming?
